Republik Music Festival with Steel Pulse & Slightly Stoopid
Sunday, June 10, 4:00 PM (gates open 3 pm; show starts at 3:45)
The 2012 Republik Music Festival all star line-up includes Steel Pulse, Slightly Stoopid, Barrington Levy, G. Love and Gyptian. Legendary Steel Pulse is the only UK reggae group to win a Grammy Award. The band is currently working on a new album to be released later this year and a documentary of their long career. Since forming in 1995, Slightly Stoopid has toured virtually non-stop. In March, the band released a two-CD/DVD package, Live at Roberto's TRI Studios, which features collaborations with Bob Weir, Ivan and Ian Neville. Barrington Levy is a popular reggae and dancehall singer from Jamaica. After years of acoustic hip-hop with his group, Garrett Dutton aka G. Love released his latest solo album, Fixin' to Die in 2011. Known for his live shows, he'll perform songs off his solo albums. Reggae star Gyptian's single "Hold You" was ranked one of the hottest songs of 2010 by numerous media outlets worldwide, capping off a stunning year for the artist. He was crowned Reggae Artist of the Year at the 2010 Soul Train Awards and 2010 MOBO Awards in the UK.
