The MACC is located at One Cameron Way, Kahului, Maui. The Box Office is open Monday-Saturday, 10:00 am to 6:00 pm, also open two hours before Castle Theater shows and one hour before McCoy Studio Theater shows. The Box Office is located at the front gates of The Center, across from the big banyan tree!

Driving Directions: MACC is across the road from Kahului Harbor, between the campus of Maui Community College & Keopuolani Park. From Ka'ahumanu Ave heading towards Wailuku, turn right on Kahului Beach Road and go a short way along Kahului Harbor; turn left at the stoplight onto Wahinepi'o. From Ka'ahumanu Ave heading from Wailuku, turn left on Wahinepi'o at the stoplight (note that street sign on the right hand side will say Papa). The Box Office is located at the left side of our beautiful front gates, across from the big banyan tree.

First Person: Seeing America with Ensemble Galilei

First Person: Seeing America is an innovative project that combines images, spoken word and live music, featuring images of rural Americans and events that shaped our nation from The Metropolitan Museum of Art's photographic collection. Added to the photos are the voices of National Public Radio’s Neal Conan and actress Lily Knight, who bring people, places and events to life through poetry and prose. Chamber music is performed by Ensemble Galilei, enhancing the images and words to fill the space with traditional and original Celtic music. 260

Soyeon Lee

First place winner of the prestigious 2010 Naumberg Piano Competition, Soyeon Lee, a native of South Korea, has been hailed by the New York Times as a pianist with “a huge, richly varied sound, a lively imagination and a firm sense of style.” Ms. Lee’s debut CD, featuring sonatas of Scarlatti, was released in 2007 to critical acclaim. She released her second album in 2009 for which she was awarded the 2009 Young Artist Award from the Classical Recording Foundation. While at The Juilliard School, Soyeon Lee won every award granted to a pianist, and is currently pursuing her Doctorate of Musical Arts in New York.261

Overtone Live in Concert

From South Africa, Overtone Band is a six-member a cappella group of young men discovered by Dina Eastwood and Clint Eastwood in 2009 and brought to America to record the soundtrack to Clint's movie Invictus, which stayed on the iTunes Soundtrack Top 25, peaking in the Top 10 for four weeks. This amazingly talented group of singers/musicians started as a “University serenade group” in their native Johannesburg in 2006 and are quickly becoming one of the hottest vocal/pop bands in the U.S. Overtone also performs with instruments and can sing in four languages: English, Zulu, Afrikaans and a little Hindi. Jimmy Buffett and the Coral Reefer Band will perform one night only on Maui as part of Jimmy Buffett’s WELCOME TO FIN LAND Tour 2012. Switchfoot is an alternative-rock and Christian-rock band from California who first gained mainstream recognition when four of their songs were featured in the 2002 movie A Walk to Remember. This recognition led to their major label debut, The Beautiful Letdown, released in 2003. It went on to sell over 2.6 million copies. They have since been noted for their energetic live shows and winning a Grammy Award for their seventh studio album Hello Hurricane. The band is touring to promote their new album, Vice Verses.371

Solo Sessions: Jerry Santos

MACC is pleased to welcome Hawaiian music icon Jerry Santos to the Solo Sessions series. Best known for his work in the musical group Olomana, singer/songwriter Jerry Santos has been a familiar presence on Hawai‘i’s music scene for almost four decades. He teamed up with Robert Beaumont in 1974 to form Olomana. Jerry was instrumental in creating an easily recognizable musical style, blending Hawaiian music with contemporary rhythms. Over the years, he has had the opportunity, as a soloist or with Olomana, to perform his music around Hawai‘i, North America, Japan and other Pacific Island nations. Honolulu Magazine named Olomana’s first record, “Like a Seabird in the Wind” #11 on the list of Top 50 Albums of all time and Jerry’s signature song “Ku‘u Home O Kahalu‘u” was voted #7 of Top 50 Songs of all time. Here's a chance to get the stories behind his legacy of songs.361

Are you ready for the biggest local comedy show of 2012? Hawai'i’s comedy legends are coming together on one stage for the first time: Frank De Lima has been entertaining Hawaii with family friendly local style humor for 36 years. The 14 time Na Hoku Hanohano Award winner has been busy visiting school children in Hawai'i with his student enrichment program. Ed Kaahea is the last surviving member of the iconic comedy trio, Booga Booga, and has over 30 years in the entertainment business. Mel Cabang has been a comic and business man in Hawai'i for 40 years. You can see Mel on numerous TV commercials and local programs. Andy Bumatai has been a comic for over 30 years. He has traveled as a headliner in comedy clubs across America and has opened for some of the biggest acts in the industry. Augie T. performs live and on TV for audiences here in the islands as well as across the United States. He has been the core artist in the revival of Hawai'i's comedy scene these past few years. Leokane will open the Maui show.359

An Evening with W.S. Merwin

W.S. Merwin has been a force in American poetry for 60 years, beginning when W.H. Auden selected his first collection, A Mask for Janus (1952) for the Yale Series of Younger Poets. Though his style has evolved much over his long career, he has remained influential, receiving nearly every major award for poetry, including two Pulitzer prizes: in 1971 for The Carrier of Ladders, and in 2009 for The Shadow of Sirius. In 2010, W.S. Merwin was appointed the Library of Congress’ 17th Poet Laureate Consultant in Poetry. In honor of this appointment, Merwin has been appointed 2012 recipient of the Dan and Maggie Inouye Chair in Democratic Ideals at the University of Hawai'i. This event is co-presented with University of Hawai‘i Foundation. 265
