Volunteering Opportunities
at The MACC
Amphitheater: Ideally
80 volunteers are needed to work each amphitheater event. Assignments
include: Parking, Scrip Selling, Ticket Taking, Ushers, Aisle Monitors,
Soda Sellers and Scrip Counters. We encourage you to join us for these
outdoor events.
(Volunteers who have attended “Usher
Training” will receive priority for amphitheater sign-ups.)
When: 10-15 events per year, usually on Friday nights or weekend days & evenings.
Education
Programs: This area is for volunteers who enjoy working with children. The Center’s CanDo! Days is an art immersion program for 1st to 5th grade students. Volunteers
assist in the classrooms and guide students from
one session to the next. Students are introduced
to rhythm and movement, drama, and visual arts
taught by professional educators.
When: Monday - Friday, 8 am - 1 pm

Gallery
Attendants: Duties include greeting guests and tracking attendance in the Schaefer International
Gallery. A volunteer walk-thru is held at the opening
of each exhibit so that volunteers can get acquainted
with the exhibit.
When: Tuesday - Sunday, 11 am - 5 pm; also, prior to and during Castle Theater performances.
Mailings: Periodically
group mailings are necessary. Our mailing team
works together sorting, folding, stuffing and sealing
envelopes. Mailings may include our Centerpiece magazine, donor brochures and event postcards.
When: Most mailings are scheduled for weekday mornings.
Office
Assistants: Ongoing help is needed with various office tasks such as data entry, and miscellaneous
other duties. Hours scheduled can be based on needs
and availability. Computer skills a plus!

Receptionist: Individuals who feel comfortable greeting guests and answering the
phone are encouraged to apply. Volunteers help out during the week
while the MACC receptionist takes her lunch hour. Volunteers are asked
to cover one shift per week.
When: Monday - Friday, 12 noon - 1 pm.
Tour
Guides: Occasionally visitors and residents alike request tours of our beautiful facilities.
The number of guides needed per tour depends on
the number of guests expected.
When: Tours are on an appointment only basis, but usually held on Wednesday
beginning at 10 am.
Ushers: The
major responsibility of our ushers is the safety
and enjoyment of the patrons. With this in mind,
ushers must possess a good personality, be able
to climb stairs, work in high places, move quickly
if needed and have good vision in limited lighting.
A three-hour orientation/training session is required
to become an usher. Volunteers are required to
work a minimum of 8 events per fiscal year to maintain “usher” status.
After completing and submitting your application you will be notified of the
date and time of the next available orientation session.
When:
Events/performances are on going throughout the
year. Most events are held in the evening, but
occasionally ushers are needed to assist during
for daytime events, including school shows.

To show their appreciation, the MACC holds an annual event to honor its many loyal active status volunteers. During this event, volunteers are recognized for various achievements and milestones including courtyard pavers with the names of volunteers who have reached the 1,000 hour mark.
In addition to individual recognition, the MACC holds an annual event honoring our loyal volunteers.
