PRODUCTION SUMMARY
The Maui Arts and Cultural Center, is a non-profit, performing arts complex. The Alexander & Baldwin Amphitheater, is the largest of the spaces, with a festival style capacity of 5000. While the diversity of entertainment, and the ever-changing world of production technology make it impractical for The Center to try and own all the equipment it would take to put on the variety of shows we see here, we know and work with virtually all the lighting, sound & staging contractors in the state. We know everybody's strong points (and weaknesses) and have the ability to choose the right company for the job.
The following will give you an overview of some of the characteristics, and technical facts of our facility. It is highly recommended that before production sub-contractors are randomly selected, a consultation should take place with The Center's Technical Director. In many cases, letting The Center "broker" all elements of the show is not only logical, but also may save money. Because we work with these people all the time, it's possible we can help your bottom line.
LABOR
The Maui Arts & Cultural Center (MACC) is a non-union facility, and can provide all necessary labor, including stagehands, truck loaders, forklift operators, runners, etc.
LOADING DOCK
Load-in
Any shipping containers arriving by barge, can be delivered to one of two loading
docks. Loading docks have dock levelers, and it is a long flat push to the
stage. In many cases, smaller rental trucks can back right up to the stage.
Forklift
MACC does not own a forklift, however, we will gladly arrange for one if the
show requires it.
PRODUCTION OFFICE
The Production office is more of a production area. Located on the lower level of the lobbies, it is removed enough from the rest of the activity to conduct business, however, close enough to see what's going on. A few tables with chairs are placed in this area. A restricted direct-dial phone is provided at no charge. This phone is an extension of the MACC PBX system and can be used for credit card, 800, local, or incoming calls. The number is (808) 242-2787 ext. 253. There are two additional pay phones nearby that ring. Those numbers are: (808) 242-9976, and (808) 242-9986. There are no direct dial unrestricted dedicated lines for faxes, modems, however, we can make those arrangements for you if needed. Additionally, there is a fax machine in the Technical Director's office that can be used for incoming faxes. That number is (808) 242-1506.
CATERING & HOSPITALITY
MACC can provide all hospitality needs. There is no kitchen on site, so meals are usually brought in by a caterer. The hospitality area provides an air conditioned seating area for around 50 persons. Due to Maui County liquor laws, all liquor must be provided by MACC.
SECURITY
Backstage & pit security are provided by MACC. A quote will be provided upon request.
CURFEW
Due to Maui County laws, there is a strictly enforced 10:00 PM curfew.
