Maui Film Festival presents… MARRIED LIFE (NOTE CHANGE FROM CHICAGO 10)
Wednesday, April 30… 5:00 & 7:30 pm, Castle Theater
Pierce Brosnan, Chris Cooper, Patricia Clarkson, and Rachel McAdams star in this unconventional fable for grown-ups about the irresistible power and utter madness of love that is noteworthy for its wry blend of dark humor, romantic deception, and stylish melodrama - with an invigorating dash of suspense. "Sophisticated and humorous" raved Entertainment Weekly, "A sly little fable with at least six very obvious homages to Alfred Hitchcock thrillers" added the NY Daily News and "Witty dialogue and gorgeous costumes and production design" chimed the LA Times. Rated PG-13. 90 min.

The MACC Presents...QAWWALI: MEHR & SHER ALI
Wednesday, April 30 - McCoy Studio Theater, 7:30 pm
In the mystical Sufism of the Persian Gulf and Indian sub-continent, devout practitioners seek to attain truth and experience divine love through the devotional music known as qawwali, a vibrant musical tradition that stretches back a thousand years. Mehr & Sher Ali trace their musical lineage to the family of renowned qawwali artist Nusrat Fatah Ali Kahn. Poetic lyrics and poetic allegories, accompanied by rhythmic instruments and explosive hand-clapping, build into a trance-like climax where the artists - and often the listeners! - are transported to a state of spiritual ecstasy. “Soaring…vibrant…music fueled by its own jubilation” (The New York Times) “…unstoppable brilliance…” (Folk Roots) click here for more info on Qawwali: Mehr & Sher Ali
