Kyle Abraham/Abraham.In.Motion ‚Äď ‚ÄúPavement‚ÄĚ
Saturday, February 28, 7:30 PM
NEW PRE-SHOW info: Join us at 6:30 pm in the Pavilion before the show, for a presentation by the African Americans On Maui Association, with spoken word performances & more!
PAVEMENT: A dance work set in Pittsburgh‚Äôs urban black neighborhoods, Pavement creates the emotionally-conflicted chronology of a culture and history plagued by discrimination, genocide, and the constant quest for a ‚Äėlottery ticket‚Äô freedom. As founder and artistic director of the company, Kyle Abraham‚Äôs work intertwines a sensual and provocative vocabulary with a strong emphasis on sound, human behavior and all things visual, in an effort to create an avenue for personal investigation. Kyle Abraham is a dancer, choreographer, 2013 MacArthur Fellow, a U.S. Artist-Ford Fellow, and recipient of the 2012 Jacob‚Äôs Pillow Dance Award‚Ķ the ‚Äúbest and brightest creative talent to emerge‚ÄĚ in recent times according to OUT Magazine.
AND MORE: There will be a Q & A with choreographer/dancer Kyle Abraham in the theater, after the performance. Join us!
